Hey Ziners!
Long time to no talk! Things have been a bit of a whirlwind the past couple months or so since the end of October! I apologize for my absence and failure to put this out there sooner, but I needed a little bit of time to clear my head and figure out exactly what it is I wanted out of not only the mag, but life in general. There are a LOT of life changes coming up for me over the next year. Sometimes things happen when you least expect them to, and I couldn’t be more excited for what’s in store. At the end of October, I got engaged to the love of my life for the past 8 years, so we’re excited to embark on this next chapter together. Although it’s all very exciting, it’s also very overwhelming; now we have to plan the biggest day of our lives together. For me, this means putting other things on the back burner for a little while to alleviate some stress due to some of my extra curricular obligations. While I really do enjoy putting together an issue every season in efforts to showcase some of the best talent from all around the globe, it can be a very stressful task. After all, I am still very much just a one woman show behind the scenes of the whole production process. I really want to take the time right now to enjoy every minute of planning the big day, but also kind of figure out where I want to take things as far as the magazine is concerned. Now don’t worry, I don’t plan on quitting the mag altogether. The site is still very much live and kicking and I would still love to feature content on my daily blog. I just don’t have the energy to produce magazine issues right now, which includes researching and gathering materials, sorting them, editing them, and designing/piecing together…. at least not until I find some help. I hope you guys understand! I will be back producing some more issues once I have some extra bandwidth. Eventually, if you don’t have help, it does burn you out. I don’t want the mag to feel like a chore… I want to WANT to do it. And it was starting to feel a little overwhelming with everything else life has in store for me right now. In the meantime, if you are interested in writing for the daily blog, definitely let me know. That will be the main focus of the mag for now, until further notice. Thanks! Love you all! Justina

At that time, the agency partnered with WBGO in Newark to have jazz artists play at several NJ TRANSIT stations. In 2012, the program was re-launched as a permanent fixture on the NJ TRANSIT rail and bus lines. Music in Motion is currently overseen by NJ TRANSIT employee, Brian Miguel, who at one time actually performed for the series (2013-2014). In 2014, the coordinator at the time left the company. Around the same time, Brian started a new position in the department where Music in Motion was run. After finding out that the coordinator left and that the program would be temporarily discontinued, Brian volunteered to continue the program. The program was skipped in the Spring of 2014 to prep and continued in the Fall of 2014. This will be Brian’s 2nd year running the program. The Music in Motion program is kicking off their fall season series on September 19th ,and will run Monday through Friday. Performances will be taking place simultaneously from 5pm to 7pm, which is rush hour and prime time foot traffic for their targeted audience: THE COMMUTERS! Performers will be posted at several of the most popular stations stations: Hoboken Terminal, Secaucus Junction, New York Penn Station, Union Station and Rahway Station. The program will also be utilizing Trenton Transit Center for the season, but no one is performing at that station that day. The program is currently looking for talent to book at these various stations throughout the fall season. The first show that is set to kick off the series will be on September 19, 2016. The Fall-Winter season runs from September 19th to January 31st 2017. (They take a break during the month of February and get started again for the Spring-Summer Series from March through August). Even though the auditions have already passed (they’re held annually during the end of summer), the program is always looking for new performers to join in on the fun! All interested performers should contact Brian via email at [email protected] or by visiting the Music in Motion FB page and send a message. The schedules are based on artist availability and their choice on where they would like to play. All permits are handled by the NJ Transit events department which sets up the performance permits throughout the year. For more additional info please visit Music in Motion’s Facebook page which also acts as their official website. www.facebook.com/NJTRANSITMIM Thanks everyone involved in the newest issue of Abra-zine!
